CANADIAN LEGISLATURE.

MOTION TO ABOLISH THE SENATE. REJECTED WITHOUT A DIVISION. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. OTTAWA, 31st January. A. motion seeking the abolition of the Canadian Senate was defeated without a division in the Dominion House of Commons. Sir Wilfrid Laurier instanced the Lords' veto and Britain, pointing out that while the Liberals desired to curtail the Lords' powers they had no desire to abolish the House of Lords.
