A DANGEROUS ROADWAY.

TO TKE EDITOR. Sir, — Kindly allow me to direct th 9 attention ol the City Corporation to the dangerous character of Kelburneparade, immediately behind Victoria College. Only half the roadway has been formed, and the other half has, for some years, consisted of ugly mounds and deep ruts. Several serious accidents have occurred in tho roadway during the past two or three years. One man, a driver, was fatally injured a year or two ago, while two others (carriers) have recently received serious injuries necessitating prolonged surgical and medical treatment. 1 have reason to believe that an accident of a serious character, which occurred last week, 19 likely to involve the Council in an action for damages. Slight I also direct the attention of the Corporation to tha dangerous corner at the entrance to Victoria College (adjoining . Kelburna Park) ? Cyclists and motorists often talje this sharp corner at a terrific pace, aiid I am very much surprised that serious accidents are not of frequent occurrence there. I feel sure that if members of ou* City Council would but visit the Parada and thi.« corner, they would readily re» rognist! the necessity of doing something in the interests of the safety of thQ public— l am, etc., I RESIDENT. Wellington, 31st January. [When this lptt-er was sho\vn to tho City Engineer (Mr. W. H. Morton) he explained that the necessity of doing uomothmg in the* Joca, lity had beeai Ticted by him, but other works had to be undertaken, and it was simply a, question of which could be started first. The corporation was anxious to make the road to the- full width. It waa s-t range that complaint should be mad*, as a little while ago the only road was a small avenue, and now a footpath, had been laid clown and the road kerbed and channelled. There was an intervening space between the metalled road and the footway, and the Council had agreed to get it done. The work wouUi be proceeded with as soon 88 gossiblct)!
