CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN AND SEED MARKET. (_V TELEGRAPH — PBESS ASSOCIATION. ][ CHRISTCHURCH, 31st January. The wet weather that has been experienced on several days lately has delayed threshing operations somewhat, and there is consequently less wheat offering than last week. There is still a very good demand both on the part of millers and merchants, and any lines aro saleable ai quotations. Most of tho wheat that has changed hands has made _3s Id. 3s l^d, and 3s 2d at country stations. In a few ca<3os very nrime pearl and tuscan haa made one ponny more, _ but the general basis on which business is doing in wheat is 3s Id 'Io 3s 2d. Oats are still very scarce. A few Gartons are now coming forward, and sales have been made at Is lid to 2s at country stations, but no quantity have yet changed hands. Prime malting barley still commands a sale, though the market is quieter than it was a week ago. Most of the best lines have changed hands, and it is estimated that of the balance slill in the hands o£ growers little more than half is of malting qualitj'. Very little business has. yet been dono in new oatsheaf chaff. Sales have been made at 65s to 70s at country stations, but farmers^ are rsking up to 80s, and with Blenheim chtff ofFering at a much louver rate an export business with the North Island cannot be done at tho prices asked by those who intend to convert thoir oats into chaff. ' There is not much business doing in cooksfoot, as in the face of a short crop growers aro not anxious to sell, unles3 they can get something near their own price. Some business is now doing in the new onion crop at 50s to 60s per^ toil at countrj' stations. DANNEVIRKE RACING CLUB. WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY, Bth and 9th MARCH, 1911.
