THE WEATHER.

The Government meteorologist advises that the barometer will rise slowly everywhere, that the Foveaux Strait will experience stormy weather, and that unsettled and cloudy conditions are likely at times in most parts of the country.

Some very good shooting was done trom Fort Dorset this morning. Eight shots w-ere fired at a Hongkong target, which was towed to a range of 4700 yards by the Janie Seddon. Although the sea was not calm, the gunners found the range very well. To-night further firing will take place with the target in a different position.
