NYDIA BAY TRAGEDY.
HOW THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED. [BY TELEGBAPH — PBESS ASSOCIATION.! BLENHEIM, 30th January." Further particulars regarding the fatality at Nydia Bay on Saturday show that five men. named John Corliss, William O'Brien. George Anderson, Climo, and Birse (the driver), were on board the locomotive, drawing a load of logs down a steep incline, when the engine got away, and, leaving the rails, crashed into a stump. Three of the unfortunate men — Anderson, Corliss, and O'Brien — were pinned beneath the engine, and scalded to death. Climo and Birse were thrown away from the engine, and escaped with severe injuries. They were immediately taken to Havelock Hospital, where the bodies of the dead were also conveyed.
