PORT jn'ICHOLSON CLUB. The Port Nicholson Yacht Club held a picnic on Saturday afternoon at Scorching Bay. There was a large attendance, both of yachts and visitors, and in the fine, sunny weather, the afternoon proved very enjoyable. An impromptu sports meeting was held with the following results: — 100 yds Fla,t Raco— G. M'Lean, 1; A. Douglas, 2. Tug-of-war between crews of first, second, and third-class yachts for a shield presented by the ■commodore, Mr. C Ward, to be competed for annually — Won by second-class yachts. Three-legged race — Nolan and Ward, 1 ; Millor and G. M'Lean, 2. Cabin boys' dinghy race—Miller, 1 ; Doughty, 2. Ladies' Bracelet thread-the-needle race, won by Miss W. Meyers and G. Little. 50yds iadios' race —Miss W. Meyers, 1 ; Miss T. Meyers, 2. The prizes wero presented after the races. TE ARO SAILING CLUB. Tho Te Aro Sailing Club got off a race on Saturday afternoon for "Messrs. Hamill Bros.' trophy. The result \>f the raco was: Redwing (9iniin), 1; Valeta (^min), 2; Winifred (lSmin), 3. Also started: Lotus (liming, K&u (sor), and Kaitare (scr). The boats finished in pairs, after a somewhat exciting race. The finishing times of tho boats were : Redwing, 4hr SOmin oosec ; Vaieta, 4hr 22min 4sec; Winifred, 4hr 29rain 40aec; Lotus 4br 29miu 45aec; Nau 4hr 33min 24sec; and Kaitara, 4hr 39min
