HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. Tho Commerce and Tourists Division,of the Department ot Agriculture, Commerce, and Tourists hao received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, 28th January, 1911. (Quotations, unless otherwise specified are average mai'ket prices on spot). Mutton. — The market is dull. Trade for all classes has been veiy slow, and prices are barely maintained. North Island mutton ifi 4d per lb. Lamb. — The market is quiet as a re «ult of heavy arrivals. New Zealand Lamb, Canterbury, s|d per lb. Other than Canterbury, s£d; Argentine, 4^d per lb. Beef. — The market is firm. Stocks of New Zealand beef on hand are light. New Zealand hinds, 3|d ; foi'ee, 3id per lb. Butter. — The market is very unsettled. Buyers are holding back expecting prices to go lo\v«r. There ie a large supply on band. Choicest New Zealand butter, 105s per cwt, Australian 101s, Danish 115s, Siberian 100e per cwt. Cheese. — The market is firm and there is a good demand. Coloured 60s, white 583 per cwt. Hemp. — The market is flat, and there is scarcely any demand. Prospects are unfavourable. New Zealand good fair on spot per ton £19 IGs, iair grade £19, fair current Manila £18 10s. Forward shipment — New Zealand good fair £19 10b, fail- grade £19 ss, fair current Manila £19. The output for the week from Manila was 28,000 bales. Cocksfoot Seed. — The market is quiet, and buyers are not keen to do business. The average price for bright dean New Zealand cocksfoot seed, weighing 171b per bushel, on spot ie 73s per cwt. Wool. — The market u> firmer, and confidence is again returning. Poultiy. — the market is unchanged. Chickens. American, 8d to 9d per ,Ib. Russian 7Ad to B^d per lb. Ducklinaa, 6d to 7d* per lb. *
