UNSETTLED WEATHER.
This morning tlie two ends of Kew j Zealand 1 and the West Coast of the' South Island caught some rain^, and between the extremes the skies were dry, though threatening at some points. Yesterday's ■ warmth here has been lollowed to-day irith an instalment of coolness from the i south, and clouds of doubtful hue lum- i bered up this afternoon. The Meteoro- ' logical Office predicts a continuance of changeable weather, with a probability of rain in most parts of the country.
Yesterday the members of the John- j Donviile Rifles, who are in camp for their annual- training, attended a Gpecial serj vice at the local Wesleyan Church. An ! appropriate programme was arranged to j i give the service a military air. The Rev. j A. B. Chappell preached an excellent sermon, which was appreciated. The j local boy scouts joined in the parade. ; Captain G. Hall, Captain F. T. Moore, | and Lieutenant Dunbar-Sloane were pi*e- j ! sent. Sergeant Kirk, of the Kelburne I Rifles, also attended the parade. j To-morrow, at 2.30 p.m., at their rooms, i 195, Lambton-quay, Messrs. H-arcourt and . j Co. will sell by public auction, acting un- ! i der instructions from Mr. James Nairn, | \ a portion of his property situated near Khandallah, and containing nearly 30 ; acres. The "property has been divided into two lots, lot 1 being part of section • 4a, Harbour District, containing 11 acres ! 2 roods 24 perches approximately. This land is situated next to Mr. Nairn's house, and is, the auctioueors think, a valuable piece of land, and eminently suitable for subdivision.
