ATHLETICS.

WELLINGTON CENTRE. Mr. R. W. M'Villy presided over a meeting of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association last evening. It was reported that as the result of a deputation to the Reserves Committee of the City "Council, the date, 25th February, would be probably granted to the centre for a sports meeting. Permission was granted the Wellington and Petone Clubs to hold meetings •on Ist and Bfch February respectively. In reference to the application of H. T. Mexted for reinstatement, he is to be asked to give reasons. The preliminary balance-sheet for the Wellington provincial championship meeting showed a credit balance of J&ti 8s 7d. Mr. A. C. Kitto was appointed manager of the Wellington team for the New Zealand championships, and Messrs. Short and J. H. Pollock delegates to the conference to be held at the same time as the meeting. ¦ The sum of £30 was "voted towards tite expenses of the tour. A case of "ringing in" was reported in connection with a recent Wanganui meeting, and the Auckland Centre is to be asked to furnish information. The Wanganui body is to be asked not to present the trophies meantime. A letter is to be sent to the New Zealand Council complaining of the delay hi connection with the reinstatement of Stratford, of Hunterville, and Corby, of Wanganui. The following will go into training for the New Zealand championships: — 100 yds — Williams and Berry. 220 yds — Williams, Berry, and Hubband. 440 yds — Harding, J. F. Wilson, and J. W. Wilton. 880yds— -Harding and J. F. Wilson. One Mite — L. Baxter. Three Miles Run — L. Baxter. ! One and Three Mile Walks— H. Kerr, D. C. Jones, and G. Turner. Hammer Throwing — Bissett and Cartwright. Putting the Shok—M'Kay, Bissett, and Cartwright. High Jump — Hodge and Evensen. Long Jump — Hnbbard and M'Kay. Hop, Step, and Jump — M'Kay, Hubbard, and M'Kenzie. 120 yds Hurdles— Hodge, M'Kenzie, and Evensen. 440 yds Hurdles — Evensen, M'Kenzie, | and Kitto. i Pole Vault — M'Kay and Evensen.
