NEW SOUTH WALES v. VICTORIA.
SHEFFIELD SHIELD. SYDNEY, 27th January. The final Sheffield Shield match of the season was begun to-day. New South Wales made 337 runs in its first innings — Bardsley 78. Kelleway 24, Barbour 26, Waddv 36, M'Elhone 101,-Hor-dern 27, and Cotter 22, were the chief scorers. Victoria has lost no wickets for 7 runs. In the bowling Armstrong took three wickets for 55 rnns ; Matthews, three for 85; Layer, tivo for 70; Kyle, two for 90. The weather was fine, but the wicket waa a bit sort. Bardsley played a fine chaDoeless game, and M'ElkoHe put in
i a brilliant punishing innings. Macartney I contributed another "duck."
