Tt is alleged that through the neglect of a Civil servant the crew of thei Parisians — who were rescued by the steamer British Transport at St. Paul's Island after the burning of their vessel — had to travel twenty-four nours by ■train from Albany to Perth without food. Th&y had no money. The Government directed" that they should be fed, but an officer neglected to telegraph instructions. The Premier (Mr. Frank Wilson) decided to draw the attention of the French authorities to the fact that the store of provisions at St. Paul's Island, where the crew landed, had not been .renewed for eighteen years. The biscuits were mouldy and unfit to eat.
