CORRESPONDENCE. MUNICIPAL ROLL AND SATURDAY HALF-HOLIDAY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Thanks ar« due to your efforts on behalf of the Slaves of the Counter, by repeatedly giving prominence to th« benefits to be derived by observing Saturday as a general half-holiday ; but I would like, if possible, to let everyone over tho age of 21 years feel the importance of getting themselves enrolled at once, as without doubt the time is not far distant when they will have an opportunity of deciding, among ' otter questions, that of which shall be the day for fihope to close at 1 oclock. I think, sir, you have already made it clear that the qualifications are the same as ai?o necessary to vote in matters Parliament tary, and that the wives are also entitled to be enrolled. However, a repetition here can do no harm, as valuable time may be saved by ev«ry person taking care that hie or her name is duly registered. Regarding the Saturday holiday — despite the gentlemen whoee names may be S or G, it is certain (ha-ve we not the Hon. Mr. Millar's word?) that now nothing can stop — although a little may be done to delay it — the inevitable, and those on the roll will have a chance of casting their votes for or against Saturday, a Tight and proper way to settle a question interesting all classes. — I anij etc., CUBA STREET. Wellington, 24th January.
