SWIMMING.

WELLINGTON CLUB'S "TWOTWENTY." The Wellington Club's 220 yards handicap was brought to the final stage last evening, and the result was a win for Crowther, who had 34sec start. The race was notable for the recovery made by Hoaly, who swam in ihe final 50 yards from the last position to the second. M'Lean (20sec) also put up a splendid fight, and he was just beaten for second place by about six indies. Freyberg, who is suffering from influenza, was' not a competitor. All the remainder who qualified started, but W. Wilson dropped out at 150 yards, and Mullins gave up 30 yards further on, when he was swimming second. The winner's time was given as Smin l3sec, and Healy's time was 2min 44sec — two seconds longer than that which he was reported to have taken in the heat. The Wellington Club has postponed its half-mile event, which was to have taken place this evening. The race will now probably be held during the championship week. VICTORIA COLLEGE CLUB. The Victoria College Amateur Swimming Club decided a 100 yards race at To Aro Baths last evening. The event was well contested, and the result was as follows :— G. M. Cleghorn (scr), 1; T. Ronayne (scr), 2 ; A. N. Hancock (10 sec), 3. Also started — C. Aston (4sec), G. G. Callender (4sec), Waldegrave (10 sec), F. A. De la Mare (lOsec), Ward (lOsec).
