I am glad to say that when you calculate ttie total cost of our tannage, allowing, of comrse, for cash reserves, which stand practicaily to the credit of that tonnage, the whole fleet stands at a trifle, say a shilling or two, over or under, £5 a ton, I am certain that do shipping company stands, as regards its capital, account, in a more batisfactory position than this, and this position i 6 reflected, and truly reflected, in tlie market value of your property. Looking back the la&t three yeacs, I Scad, except at the moment of dividend, th^re? has hardly been a fluctuation of 1 per cent, in the value of your stock. Sow in these days, when Consols and gilt-edged securities of ail kinds tumble about as if they were half-seasover, we may at all events feel gratified that the value of your property is as steady as it is.
