VESSELS ASHORE.
This morning the Marine Department received a telegram from .Karamea to the effect that, owing to shoaling-up of the channel inside the bar, the steamer Mangapapa took the beach at the north head yesterday, also the Warrau. The Mangapapa was refloated thie morning, but at the time of advice (9 a.m.) the Wairau was still on the hard. The sea <vas very smooth.
By order of the mortgagee, under conduct of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Messrs. A. L. , Wilson and Co. sold at auction to-day a nine-roomed house erected on a section of 21.2 perches in Central-terraoe, Kelburne. The purchaser was Mr. Smith, as agent, at £853. Constable Andrew Shine, who has been stationed at the Mount Cook Police Station for the past twelve months, died at the Hospital this morning. Deceased had been subject to epileptic fits, and had two on Monday. During one of these he dislocated Ms jaw. He was taken to the hospital, but never recovered. The hospital doctor has , -certified to the cause of death, '
