MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
To-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court was presided over by Dr. AT Arthur, S.M. Sixty previous. convictions stood against Carrie Corbett, who was only recently discharged from the Salvation Army Home, and who admitted having been intoxicated. * She pleaded for "another chance," and was given it, with a conviction and discharge. Similar treatment was awarded a female firstoffender. "You are liable to three months' imprisonment," said the magistrate to John M'Kay, charged with insobriety, "you will be sentenced to one month's imprisonment." Edward Waters .and John M'Eachern, who admitted having been drunk, were each mulcted in a penalty of 20s, v/ith a seven days' option. While inxtoxieated yesterday, a Maori named Henry Turner fell tlu-ough a pane of plaie glass, valued at £1, the property of Amelia Halle. He said the damage was done accidentally. A conviction and discharge were recorded .against him for drunkenness; while the charge of wilful damage was withdrawn in consideration of his paying for a new pane within a week.
