At the Indian National Congress at Allahabad resolutions were carried expressing satisfaction at the King's proposed visit and the heroic struggle of the Indians against the prospective legislation in the Transvaal. The congress also urged the Indian Government to prohibit the recruiting of indentured coolies. Impassioned speeches were made call ing on Indians to support the Swadeshi movement and the purchase of Indian products even at a sacrifice to themselves.
