WALLIS ISLAND.

A COMMISSIONERS STATE&DT PRIESTS AND NATIVES. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— -Copyright. (Received December 29, 9.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Dr. Brochard, French Commissioner at Wallis Island, is visiting Sydney. He stated that the Catholic priests will probably be expelled from the island, and added : "The natives some time ago ordered the priests — five in number — to leave. They (the priests) took no notice, but imported rifles and ammunition, and distributed them among the friendly natives. They deposed the king and appointed a king of their own choice. ' ' The priests have been getting most of the money for the copra, the natives doing all the work. The priests made the natives build houses and churches without pay." Dr. Brochard intends placing the matter before the French authorities at Noumea.
