The feature of the Riverton Athletic Society's sports to-day was the ilresence among the competitors of Holway, of America, world's champion professional sprinter, Trembath (New Zealand), middle distance champion, and M'Lauchlin. the well-known Napier runner. Holway, who is on a tour of New Zealand, arrived from Hoburt on Monday, and will leave to-morrow morning for Timaru, where ho will compete Tho wouther ■was \ery wet for yesterday's sports, ;i nd, as a result, Hie ground was very heavy. The principal event" (100 yds handicap) was v.on by White > from tho 10yds mark, with i-lolway (scratch) .second, and Trembath (3yds) third. Trembatb, starting from 4vds>, ■ft on the 220 yds, with M'Lauchlin (Byds) ' second, and Walker (20yds) third. Hol- ! way unplaced. At Balfour on Tuobi day M'Lauchlin won the Sheffield Handioap and half-mils.
