FIRE IN THE CITY.
A six-roomed house in Grafton-street, Roseneath, owned and occupied by Mr. Charles Johnson, was totally destroyed by fire yesterday morning. The cause of the outbreak is attributed to the man-tel-drape in front of the Kitchen fireplace catching alight. The building was insured for £300 in the -State Fire office, but the contents were not insured. The outer wall of an adjoining house, unoccupied, owned by Mr. John Woods, of Lower Hutt, was also burnt. A motor engine was sent from the Central Station, and the Roseneath Volunteer Brigade rendered assistance. UNOCCUPIED HOUSE. fBY TELEGRAPH— PBESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, This Day. An unoccupied house at Opoho, valued at £250, and owned by Edward Osten, Wellington, was tofally destroyed by fire. It was insured ior £250 in the fcState office. The origin of the fire is a mystery.
