WELLINGTON JOURNALISTS.
The committee 'of the Wellington Branch of .the New Zealand Institute of Journalists met yesterday. The president of the institute (Mr. F. J. Earle) occupied the chair. Mr. G. L. Gilmour tendered his resignation as- secretary of the branch, in consequence of his departure for Sydney to-day. The resignation was accepted with regret, and a minute placed on record expressing appreciation of Mr. Gilmour's services and the best wishes of the branch for his future. Mr. H. 0. Browne (Times) was elected actingsecretary pending a general meeting of ' members. A report on the week-end "socials" held recently showed that the gatherings ■were a success financially and otherwise. It was decided to hold another reunion at the end of next week, at the president's residence, Silverstream. Two members, Messrs. C. H. Crilchler (Napier Telegraph) and E. E. Cohen (Press Association) were elected. Satisfaction -na.<- expressed at the election of Mr. John Ban-,-, an ex-Wellington member, as president of the New South Wales Institute of Journalists-.
