Th« directors of the Kauri Timber Cmpany, Limited, in submitting to shareholders the balance-sheet for the twentysecond year of the company's operations to 31st August, state : "'i'he year's results hay« been considerably below expectation, chiefly in consequence of the inferior run f>i logs with wnich we have had to deal, producing a low percentage of the highei grades of timber. But these conditions will be greatly improved during the year now current, and 6honld produce correspondingly better resulted Owing to the soundness of trade during recent years, we hai7e a large surplus to our del credere- fund available 'for transfer to profit and loss, and the saiii of £8000 has been transferred a-ccoirdmgiy, still leaving adequate provision for all outstanding accounts The balance at credit of profit and loss, ■including £23,633 6s 5d brought forward from last year amounts to £67,020 17s 7d, out of which it is proposed to pay a dividend at the rate of eight per cent, per annum, absorbing £46.800, and to carry forward to next year the balance, £20,220 17s 7d.
