THREATENING CONDITIONS.

Early this morning the general aspect of the weather changed considerably, dawn breaking dull, with intermittent ■howers. To-day threatening masses of clouds have appeared m the southward. The Meteorological Oflice report is for winds, strong to a gale, veering from S.E to N.E. A rise in barometric pressure will, it is anticipated, be followed Dy a very low reading in the south after about iorty-eight hours. There is a low-pressure disturbance due shortly, which, when it arrives, will be accompanied by very heavy rain in most parts oi the country.
