«~ CARTERTON. [BY TELEGRAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.] CARTERTON, This Day. Yesterday the local branch of the Wairarapa Egg Circle sent 227£ dozen eggs to its agent in Wellington. Mr. H. Ogier has been appointed manager of Messrs. Hoar and Permain's Carterton branch iv place of Mr. H. Martin, who has resigned, having purchased a business on his own account. Mr. Purcell Webb's local and Masterton pupils gave a pleasant entertainment in St. Andrew's Schoolroom last evening, half of the proceeds being devoted to tho funds of the Sunday-school. The executive of the local swimming baths have decided to build a concrete wall round the baths. The bottom ot tho bath is to be graded from three feet to seven feet, the shallow portion to extend twenty-five feet for children, and to be fenced off with ropes or other means to ensure safety. Ifc is probable that tho bottom of the bath will be bricked with the material given by the Brick and Tile Company, the space between the bricks being filled with concrete. Some £45 3s has so far been banked to the funds account.
