LONG DISTANCE CONTEST, By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright NEW YORK, sth November. Mr. Joe Dawson, in a Maroon car, won a 200-miles automobile race at Atlanta, Georgia, in 2 hours 51 minutes 12 seconds. Mr. Ralph Mulford, in a Lozier cat, was 3 l-ssec behind. The contestants were stopped twic«* by lost tyres. The 1 winner takes the Atlanta trophy. There were elevea starters. . DANGEROUS UNDERTAKING. RUN OF 450 MILES ACROSS THE DESERT. NEW YORK, 6th November. Fourteen automobiles have started from Los Angeles (California) on a race of 450 miles across tho deaerb to Phoenix. Arizona. The roads to be traversed are the most daingerous ever attempted by motorists. The motors wjJl be ferried across the rivers en route.
