TE ARO RAILWAY STATION.
STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER. The Hon. J. A. Millar stated in reply to Mr. Luke to-day in the House of Representatives that the Railway Department has no land available at Te Aro on which a goods shed could be erected, and the whole of the existing yard accommodation was required for the purpose of shunting passenger-trains run to' and from that station. The conversion of what is purely a passenger-station into one dealing with all classes of traffic ould necessitate the department acquiring city lanu at a prohibitive cost, which the circumstances did not warrant. For years past there had been persistent complaints as to the running qi trains between Wellington and Te Aro, and. as a consequence, the department had reduced the pasneng-er-service.
