LEATHER-RUBBER WORKS.

HASTINGS, 17th October. The formal opening oi the leather-rub-ber works took place to-day in the presence of a large number of visitors from all parts of the Dominion. The total cost of establishing the industry exceeds £32,000, the patent rights being £20,000, and the balance devoted to the purchase of machinery, land, and buildings. The massive machinery was set in motion, and everything worked smoothly. The principal lines of manufacture are : Floor tiles, linoleums, retread motor tyres, vehicle, bicycle, and perambulator tyres, and boot heels and soles. .
