ANGLICAN MISSION.
m Communion services, Bible readings, classes for instruction, and evening mission services comprised yesterday's programme of the Anglican mission. The morning's bad weather did not keep away the large audience that attended the 7 o'clock communion service in St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral. In the afternoon the missioner allotted to the Cathedral preached on "Prayer and its Efficacy." After an open-air service the mission was continued in the church. The missioner, taking "Salvation " as his theme, said it Avas not a railway ticket to be produced on the Day of Judgment and forgotten about until then. In reality it included three elements, name ly : — Forgiveness for the past, spiritual power for the present, and growth foi a nobler future. At St. Mark's in the afternoon the Rev. G. F. C. de Carteret preached on the possibilities of victory in the Christian iife. In the evening, before a large congregation, the missioner preached a sermon emphasising the fact that- every one, more especially those who were apparently lost had a chance of salvation. Most of the congregation remained for the after-meeting. The work of St. Thomas's, Newtown, has been going on steadily. Yesterday afternoon Prebendary H. V. Stuart continuea the Bible readings from St. Luke's Gospel. At 7 p.m. a short service of prayer was held, and the people, accompanied by the vicar, the choir, and Mr. "Joe" Harris, went to the junction of Riddiford and Rintoul-streets, where an open-air meeting was held.
