NORTHERN UNION GAME. AUCKLAND'S TOURING TEAM. 1 [BY TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, Ist October. The Auckland Northern Union team 1 played a match against a team representing Otago and Southland to-day. There were close on 2000 spectators present. Soon after the start Walker (Otago) got over from a loose dribbling rush, M'Dermitt failing with the kick at goal. Nothing of note occurred till Kean, the Auckland scrum half, got across, and Dunning converted. M'Dermott next scored for Otago, and Hughes added the major points. Even play went on until Asher broke away from half-way, outpaced his opponents, and scored under the poets. Dunning failed with the kick. Before the close of the spell Coulter scared for Otago, Johnston converting, and Nolan scored an unconverted try for Auckland, leaving the scores at half-time : Otago 13, Auckland 11. In the second spell Auckland, with the wind, had things pretty well all their own way. Otago scored one more try, Harridge getting over from a forward rush, M'Dermott converting. • Five tries were scored for Auckland, the scorers being : Kean (three tries), Bennet, and Dunning. Cole converted two tries. The final scores were : Auckland, 30 poifits ; Otago and Southland, 18 points. HARBOUR BOARD MATCH. In default of the benefit match, which was set down for the fixture at Athletic Park but had to be abandoned through lack of prayers, a game was played there on Saturday between the casual and the permanent employees of the Wellington Harbour Board. Casual won by 10 points to nil. Ludwig potted a neat goal, and O'Sullivan and Barber scored tries. At half time a collection was taken up for Mr. Bennett, an old representative player, laid up with sickness for ' a long time. There "was a liberal response. Mr. Suiqmerhayes was referee. INTER-CLUB GAME AT PETONE. An inter-club match between teams from the Petone Working "Men's Club and the Petone Junior Club was played on the Petone Recreation Ground. The juniors won by 19 points to 8. 'As a curtain-raiser a ladies' hockey match was played, a drawn game resulting. The proceeds of these matches will go towards the "Ambulance Wagon Fund."
