Pianto (West Australia), 9hrs 30min 46sec. Won by a length and a half, the third man only a few feet away. Twenty thousand people wTtnessed tha finish. Ihe weather threatened at the start in the morning, and a very strong northerly wind was blowing, but the conditions afterwards improved. Out of the 401 acceptors for the race 355 started. Amongst those scratched were Walsh and Neilsoi>, New Zealanders.
