THE GOLF CONTESTS.
DETAILS OF THE PLAY. iBT TZLBGBArB — PSX3S ASSOCIATION. I CHRISTCn.UECH, This Day. In the professionals' match, Herd held Clements virtually throughout. The Napier man's play was a trifle patchy, .while the Shirley professional was erratic, and the former was 3 up at the turn. He took the next three holes by magnificent play, and won at the thirteenth hole. Herd was formerly pr^* fessional at Shirley links, and the mating between him and the present Shirley professional naturally created a graat deal of interest. ' Wood and Lusk, who are contesting the final of the amateur championsh.'p. are both Canterbury representative cricketers. There was little to choose between them on the morning's play, although Wood was 2 up at the conclusion of the round. Another 18 holes are .to be played this afternoon.
