A cablegram received by the Union Company states that the Warrimoo left Sydney afc 2 p.m. on Saturday for Wellington direct. She should arrive here eaily on Wednesday moining. UNION COMPANY'S^STEAMERS. The bar at Greymouth is still in a bad condition, and both the Poherua and Mapourika were unable to cross outwards this morning. The Poherua will be further lightened, and will probably get out to-day. The Mapourika will make an intermediate trip to Westport, and will leave Greymouth again on Thursday for Wellington. The Arahuia. 'reached Westport at 8 o'clock last night. She will not go to Greymouth this trip, but will sail on her return trip to Wellington tomorrow.- At 5 o'clock tin's afternoon the Fiora will leave Westport for Wellington, and after discharging here, she will sail again on AVednesday for Napier, Gisborne, and Kast Coast bays. The Taviuni is timed to leave Lyttelton at 2 o'clock this afternoon. The "Whangape, from Westport, should put in an appearance this afternoon, and she will afterwards go to Picton, and from that port to Sydney. The Waihora, bound for Newcastle, passed Cape Maria Van Diemen at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. While at San Francisco Sir James Mills enquired into the operation of ships by oil fuel instead of coal. He expressed himself as delighted with what he saw. The boats are wonderfully clean, but, in his opinion, it ■would be too expensive a system to inaugurate on the Pacific, as coal is very cheap in New Zealand, and companies could not afford to make the change. Mr Page, late second officer of the Moeraki, is relieving Mr. J. Flymi, chief officer of the Taviuni, who is on sick leave. Mr. Toten, second of the Taviuni, went ashore at Dunedin for orders, and his place was filled by Mr. Scrivener, of the Kini. Captain D. J. Watson, secretary of the Merchant Service Guild, who has been on a. visit to Dunedin, returned to Wellington yesterday by the Maori. The Ripple is expected in port to-morrow from Lyttelton to load for Chatham Islands. Sho will probably sail again during the evening. Captain Carlson, who has been on holiday leave, has resumed command of the Kahu. On arrival at Port Chalmers on Tuesday week the Cormna will withdraw for overhaul. She will resume running on the 29th inst. Discharge of the Queen of the Souths car-go was not completed on Saturday owing to the heavy rain. In consequence the vessel will be unable to get away for Foxton until this afternoon. Early this morning the coastal steamer Arapawa taken to the Slip by the Kapuni. The Tyser steamer Indraghiri, from 'New York, is expected to arrive at Wellington about the 29th August, riot the 22nd August, as previously announced.
