KEIR HARDIE AND KINGS.
"PROOF OF LUNACY." j By Xelegraph. — Preaa Association.— Copyrlgbt LONDON, 25th July. Mr. Keir Hardie, Labour member for Merthyr-Tydvil, in a speech at Chester-lc-Street, said he regarded tho existence of kings as a proof 'of lunacy among their peoples. Sane people would insist on ruling and governing themselves. It was a profound mistake to imagine that the workers oi the country were intensely loyal. The cost of maintaining the Royal Family was £790,000 a year. This was a scandalous waste.* He added : "When the vote was taken on the Civil List, howevet, both parties in the House of Commons trooped into the same lobby, leaving the Labour Party and a few conscientious Radicals to do their best to opposo this waste."
