.<» WELLINGTON DEFEATS AUCKLAND. Teams from the Auckland and Wellington Golf Clubs played a golf match on the Heretaunga Links. The turf, consequent on the weather, was sodden, and the greens were muddy and heavy. Arthur Duncan and J. C. Burns provided a keen struggle, the Wellington champion eventually winning by 3 up and 1 1 to play. In the contest for A team — a two ball competition — the scores were as follows : — A. Duncan (W.) beat J. C. Burns (A.). A. J. Abbott (W.) beat H. Gillies (A.). W. Reid (W.) beat Dr. Bamford (A.). J. B. MacEwan (W.) beat P. Upton (A.). The same team played a four-ball match, which resulted a3 follows : — Duncan and Abbott (W.) beat Burns and Gillies (A.). Reid and MacEwan (W.) beat Bamford and Upton (A.). B Team. Myers (A.) beat Faircftild (W.). Macintosh (A.) beat E. L. Chaffey (W.). T. Jackson (A.) beat R. W. Kirkby (W.). A. S. Biss(W.)beat W. W. Bruce (A.). E. J. Reid»(W.) beat L. R. Bloomfield (A.). A. MacShane(W.) beat H. Horton(A.). C. M'Cosh-Clark (W.) beat H. M'CoshClark (A.). The competition ended in a win for Wellington by 10 games to 3.
