THE ESCAPE OF SAVARKAR. Bj Telegraph.— Fresg Association.— Copyricht. LONDON. 22nd Jul.v. Sir Edward Grey, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, replying to a question in^Parliament, said he had been approached by France regarding the escape of the Indian student Sitvarkar (extradited from London on a charge of sedition) from the mail st«amer at Marseilles, while t»ing conveyed to India for trial. The pointe of* international law involved were boing considered. [A sergeant of the French dock police at Marseilles captured Savarkar while he was clambering ashore through a porthole of the P. and 0. steamer Morea. Owing to the fact tnat Savarkar landied on French soil, tbo Preach Government has requested the su3p*nsion of Mb trial, and it is possible that he will have to return to France pending an application for extradition.}
