COMPANIES' INCOME.
DOUBLE TAXATION. By Telegraph.— Press Association.-- Copyright. LONDON, 22nd July. Mr. Lloyd-George, Chancellor of tho Exchequer, has" issued a reply to the request made by the deputation of company representatives, headed by Sir Edward Sassoon (member for Hythe), which on 9th July ask-ed for an alteration of the law so as to do away with the double taxation of the incomes of companies on which inucome tax has already been paid in the overseas Dominions. The Chancellor states that to grant the concession asked for woidd mean 'a tremendous inroad on the Treasury. The whola question was whether the Motherland could surrender the tax until an arranginent had been concluded. He thought it hard that England should be asked to surrender her right. After maintaining the possibility of mi undei standing with New Zealand and India, Mi. Lloyd-George suggested that an attempt to arrive at an arrangement might be made at the Imperial Confer•act.
