ARBOR DAY.
The City Council has instructed tho Superintendent of Reserves (Mr. G. F. Glen) to supply headmasters of schools with any suitable plants they may require for planting on Arbor Day (Wednesday), but up till to-day not much advantage had been taken of the offer. This question of tree-planting is one of much importance, and it is a pity that some more" organised effort is not made to celebate the day which has been set specially apart for inculcating it on the minds of the children. Island Bay and the Terrace Schools have made applications for plants, and it is expected that more applications will be received to-day and to-morrow.
