TRADES AND LABOUR CONFERENCE.
WHAT IS THE NEW ZEALAND LABOUR PARTY?
[BT TELEGBAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, This Day. The annual conference of delegates of the Trades and Labour Councils of the Dominion opened in the Municipal Buildings this morning. Tho Mayor (Mr. Bagnall) welcomed the delegates. For the chairmanship Mr. G. R. Whiting (Canterbury), Mr. W. C. Noot (Wellington), and Mr. J. Savage were nominated. Mr. Whiting was elected, Mr. J. Young (Canterbury) was appointed secretary. Replying to Mr. Breen (Otago), who askad "what this New Zealand Labour Party was?" the chairman explained it was formed as a result of Mr. A. W. Hogg's tour after he left the Ministry. After further discussion the subject was dropped an the understanding that an opportunity would be afforded to discuss it later.
