PARAPARAUMU AFFRAY.
The two youths, Charles King, alias Halley, and Frank Dean, alias Wilson, who were apprehended on Sunday week for attempted robbery under arms from Young Tim, a Chinese market-gardener at Paraparaumu, appeared on remand at the Magistrate's Court this morning, before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., to answer a "joint charge of attempting to commit robbery, accompanied by threats of violence. Sub-Inspector Norwood asked for a remand of the youtns till Thursday next. Mr. T. W. Hislop, who 'appeared on behalf of the accused, asked for a' reduction of the bail (£25 and one surety) previously fixed in Dean's case. Dean's father was away on the West Coast, and the lad had, been in th 9 habit of supporting his mother. His Worship granted a reduction of the bail to £15, and one surety of a like amount ; and the remand was made as requested.
