BASKET BALL DISPLAY. AMERICANS VICTORIOUS.

After the defeat they sustained on Saturday afternoon on the Rugby field, the representatives of the American Universities made amends in the evening by a runaway victory, at basket ball, from the V.M.C.A. Basket Ball Club, the scoring being 31 to 13 in favour of the visitors. Much interest was shown in the encounter, and the V.M.C.A. gymnasium, where the match took place, was taxed to its utmost for standing room. The Americans displayed a natural aptitude for the game, and their passing and combination were pleasing to watch. In most respects they outclassed the local men, though the resourcefulness and energy of the V.M.C.A. team accounted for some meritorious scoring.
