SYDNEY, This Day. The United States Tennis Association has cabled to the Australasian Tennis Association as follow : "Shall send a team if possible — for the Davis Cup only. No guarantee asked now. Approval possible." [The Australian Lawn Tennis Association recently considered England's demand ior a guarantee of £800 in connection with the Davis Cup competition. It was decided to reply with an offer to the losers of one-third of the profits from matches in other States, in addition to their share of the prelimi r iiiu.y tie games. The association decided to guarantee no less than £600 for at least three approved players, and offered America the same terms.] WELSH SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP. DIXON DEFEATS DOUST. (Received July 11, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, 10th July. In the final of the lawn tennis singles championship of Wales, Dixon defeated Doust, B—6, 6—4, a— 6, 6—2. [Last year the Welsh singles championship was won by Boucher (the holder), who beat W. C. Crawley, B—6 6—l, 6—3.]
