JAPAN-BRITISH EXHIBITION.
MANY NEW ZEALAND VISITORS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, 27th May.
Prince Fushimi, accompanied by Count Matsu, the suite of the Japanese Lega- J tion, Lord Desborough, and Sir John Cockburn, visited the New Zealand pavilion on Wednesday, and spent several minqtes closely examining the exhibits, Prince Fushimi asked many questions through his interpreter, and he appeared to be keenly interested in what New Zealand had to bliow. He closely studied the portraits of the late Mr. Richard Seddon and of Sir Joseph Ward, which occupy central positions, and he admired the frozen meat and woollen exhibits. Mr. Edward Wakefield, a former Colonial Secretary of New Zealand, was in the pavilion at the time, and he was presented to the Prince, who asked several questions relating to the Dominion. There have been several hundred callers this week, and not a few have added complimentary references concerning the New Zealand pavilion. Mr. W. J. Dobson, of Calgary, wrote: "Very interesting" , Mr." J. E. Nathan, of Wellington, "Most creditable display" ; Sir 1 L. Ormsby, "Exhibits most creditable" ; | Mr, Mathias Whitehead (Auckland), "Proud of my adopted country after half a century's residence there" ; Mr. H. Butters (Napier), "Very glad to see such wonderful progress in all industries" ; Mr. J, Edwards (Auckland), "Glad to see such a really fine exhibit."
