In the House of Commons, Colonel Seely, Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies, said the Government was not prepared to consider the question of the advisableness of holding a subsidiary conference on the subject of emigration unless the self-governing dominions j made it plain that they desired it. In reply to a, question by Mr. Rowland Hunt, Unionist member for the Ludlow Division of Shropshire, the Right | Hon. Reginald M'Kenna, First Lord of j the Admiralty, said there was an ample ] supply of cordite for the Navy. [A few days ago Mr. ( Arthur Chamberlain, brother of Mr. Joseph Chamberlain, and chairman of Kynocn's, ammunition manufacturers, alleged that the Government magazines are not siifficiently full of cordite for the safety of the country.]
