Weather.— B, blue sky, be the atmosphere clear or heavy; C, clouds, passing clouds; D, drizzling rain; F, foggy; G, gloomy, dark weather; H, hail; L, lightning; M, mi6ty; 0, overcast, the whole sky covered with thick clouds; P, passing showers; Q, squally, R, laiu, continued ram; S, hnow; T, thunder; U, ugly, threatening appearance. FORECAST. At 9 a.m. the following forecast was issued for the subsequent 24 hours :— Winds. — Southerly winds prevailing, strong and squally at tupes northward of East Cape and Kawhia; south-easterly thence to Hokitika and Kaikoura; and easterly, strong to gale, elsewhere. Barometer. — Rise slowly everywhere northward of New PI j mouth and Napier, and fall slowly elsewhere. Sea.— Heavy on all the eastern coast south of East Cape; increasing on all the western coast of the North Island, and considerable swell elsewhere. Tides.— Good generally. Weather.— Rain is probable generally, and cold and damp weather over the North Island, and on the eastern coast of the South Island. Warning signal for easterly gale is exhibited at Capes Campbell and Farewell Spit, and at Stephen Island, Nugget A'oint, and Centre Island, and for southerly at East Cape. D. C. BATES. CH.
