PRICE OF FLOUR REDUCED.

The local agents for the associated jmllers (Messrs. D. W. Virtue and Co.) have received a telegram, stating that the price of flour was reduced by 10s per ton as from to-day. The price of flour free on board at Southern ports is, therefore, now £9 10s per ton.

(2) That the council requesi the Government to amend section 3 of the amending Act, 1908, by striking out the following words, "shall be deemed *o be carried unless at least one-third of the ratepayers of that district have validly exercised their votes in respect of that proposal," and substitute tho following : "That the proposal shah be deemed to ba carried if two-thirds of the .■valid votes of tho ratepayers are cast in favour of the proposal." Councillor Luke will move at the City Council meeting to-morrow night — "That, this council recognise that a very considerable portion of the city residential, commercial, and industrial developments will extend to Kilbirnie and adjacent district — together with the no doubt early extending of the city boundaries to embrace the Miramar Peninsula. Thai they are of th© opinion that the time has arrived when an improved acews connecting the city with the southern portion of its outlying areas ehould be given effect to — suc-h access to be of a minimum grade to enable a more speedy and humane vehicular traffic and provision for pedestrians.
