LATE SPORTING.
m WORK AT ELLERSLIE. [BY TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, This Day. The weather was boisterous, with heavy, cold showers, for training operations at Ellerslie this morning. All work was done on the sand inside the grass, which was heavy. Before breakfast Prophet did seven furlongs on the sand in Imin 37 2-ssec. Handsome Paul, assisted over the last six, but was of no use to the hurdle candidate. Haldane did six furlongs on the same track, ' the last five in Imin Bsec. After break- j fast Aorangi easily beat Strathmoira j once around on the inside of the grass in Imin 53 4-ssec. Advantage was too good for Magneto over five furlongs on the sand in Imin Bsec; Nyhmd beat Elfish over the same distance in Imin 8 2-5 sec. Truganini was better than Bollin over a mile on the sand in Imin 51 1-5 sec. Woolloomooloo easily beat Totiki and Kiatere over a round on the inside o f the grass in 2min 3 2-ssec. Ben Jonson was in front of Hoanga at the end of a round on the inside of the grass in Imin 56 2-ssec. Armagh covered a round of the hurdles, fencing well. Marhara,nui did a similar task, jumping slowly. Audax, Te Arai, Le Beau, Cavaliero, Capitol, and Arty were companions over a ronnd of the big country. With fbe exception of Arty, all jumped well. Calwa, Cudweed, aud Flying Cloud did a similar task, the later falling. Lovell and Bed M'Gregor did the same journey, fencing in good style. Mozart, King Hippo, Whatashot, and Golden Glow jumped the fences on the flat. Wimmera, Lethean, Oveitime, Mendip and Waitapn arrived this morning.
