Lieutenant Hofrichter, found guilty of attempting to poison officers of the Austrian General Staff, and sentenced to be hanged, was not allowed to attend his trial. The evidence of 2000 witnesses woe read. The court-martial, it is believed, recommended the commutation of the sentence to imprisonment, the doctors having described Hofrichter as morally abnormal.
