Weather.— B, blue sky, be the atmosphere clear or heavy; C, clouds, passing clouds; D, drizzling rain; F, foggy; G, gloomy, dark weather; H, hail; L, lightning; M, misty; O, overcast, the whole sky covered with thick clouds; P, passing showers; Q, squally, R; rain, continued ram; S, snow; T, thunder; U, ugly, threatening appearance. FORECAST. At 9 A.m. the following forecast was issued for the subsequent 24 hours :— Winds.— Southerly winds prevailing, strong to gale in parts. Barometer.— Biso everywhere steadily. Sea. — Considerable on all the western coast; rough on the east coast southward of East Cape, and off shore elsewhere. Tides.— Good on the west coast of the North Island, and southward of East Cape; moderate elsewhere. Weather. — Cool and changeable weather is probable generally, with showers in many parts and a cold night with frosts inland.
