FURTHER RESULTS. * [BY TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, 19th May. The principal results of the second day's musical, elocutionary, and literary competitions were : — Shakesperian recitation for gentlemen (Gloster's soliloquy) — P. A. Deveveux (Christchurch), 1; K. E. Shorney (Wellington), 2; A. D. Aitken (Christchurch), 3. Recitation for ladies (Browning's "An Incident oi" the French Campaign") — Miss Gardner (Dunedin), 1; Miss Pacey 2; Misses Devereux (Christchurch) and Arnold (Wellington), equal, 3. Miss Aileen Moore (Dunedin) won the piano solo, with Miss Vera Moore (Dunedin) second. No first was awarded in the baritone solo. The second prize was awarded to T. M. Charters (Christchurch). Violin solo — Miss I. Morris (Christchurch), 1; Mr. A. V. Westhead (Dunedin), 2. The first in the impromptu debate wore Messrs. W. -F. Stock (Christchurch) and R. N. Gray (Christchurch), though the judge considered L. H. Hunt (Limehills) the best individual speaker. On the third day only two choirs competed in the choir contest. Mendelssohn's "As the Hart Pants" was won by the Greymouth Methodist choir with 149 points out of 200. Sydenham choir was second with 137. In tho Tannhauser selection, "Hail, Bright Abode," Greymouth scored 133 3narks and Sydenham 122. The judge said it was a fine achievement on the j pai't of both choirs. The impromptu speech resulted : — L. 11. Hunt, Limehills, 1; H. A. Heighway, Dunedin, 2. Piano solo (12 years and under) "Echo" (Paff).— Miss H. W. W. Balk, Dnnedin, 1 ; Miss D. L. Talbot, Dunedin, 2. Prepared Reading. — Miss Una Owen, Dunedin (146 points), 1 ; Miss Helen Gardner, Dunedin (144), 2; Miss F. J. Pacey, Dunedin (143), 3. Musical Monologue. — Miss Pacey, Dunedin (144 points), 1 ; Miss Gardner, Dunedin (132), 2; Miss Arnold, Wellington (120), 3.
