EXTRA EDITION.
The Hon. D. Buddo is accompanying His 'E-xcellency the Governor on his farewell tour of the Wanganui and Taranaki districts. To carry out its scheme of economy in connection with the Crown Law Office, Cabinet has appointed Mr. T. Neave, LL.B., harriaber-atrflaw, Wellington, as one of the assistant- law officers of the Crown. The Attorney-Gen-eral (Hon. Dr. Findlay) states that vriih this appointment the reorganisation of the office is practically complete. The object of the new scheme, he said, was to have all legal work of the Crown, both in connection with litigation, conveyancing, and advice to the various public departments, entirely in the Crown Law Offiec. For the purpose of this work there would be available his own services, for he would, when time permitted, take important cases in the law Courts as Attorney-General for the Crown. There would also be available the services of the Solicitor-General, Mr Salmond, who had already been doing important work for the Crown ; also the assistant law officers, Mr. Redwood, Mr. Ostler, and Mr. Neave. If experience showed that further assistance was really necessary, it would be engaged. The reorganisation rendered the continuance of the offices of Crown Prosecutor and Crown Solicitor in Wellington unnecessary, and consequently they would be "abolished. The scheme would effect a saving of many thousands of pounds per annum.
